Diwali is not complete without truck loads of Mithai or sweets that are exchanged by families and businesses every year. Moderns times have seen the advent of chocolates & other international goodies making their own space in the gift zone, while companies like Frontier Biscuit Factory have always been popular with their range of Biscuits and Cookies that they sell from their 60 or so stores in town.

That said, the tradition Indian Mithai is always the backbone of festivities and I am sure even god herself would not know how many Tonnes of the same are bought, sold, gifted, exchanged and consumed during these days.

In city of Delhi Haldiram’s & Bikanervala’s have always been the trusted source of mithai, while there is an Aggarwal Sweet shop almost around every corner of town.

However to breakaway from the norm we decided to ask our community members about the most reliable, safe and delicious options from around Delhi and got some interesting responses.

  1. Quite a bit of surprises in that list .. .. No Chaina Ram in Old Delhi (leave alone lesser known/ offbeat ones like Kallan Sweets of Jama Masjid area or the iconic Shiv Mishthan Bhandar) … No Evergreen (Green Park) or Moti Sweets (Malviya Nagar) in South Delhi , No Kaleva or Bengali Sweets or Nathu’s in Central Delhi, Om Sweets has its only Sector 14 branch mentioned while it has branches all over Gurgaon and even Faridabad !
